Tobacco Cessation and Treatment

Funded by RI HEALTH Tri-Town will begin to operate Tobacco Cessation and Treatment classes beginning January 1, 2011 throughout the state of RI, excluding Providence. This program provides smoking cessation counseling and treatment services including nicotine replacement to uninsured and underinsured people who might not otherwise be able to access or afford treatment. Those persons who are insured are also able to participate in the individual and/or counseling sessions. Most insurance companies with pay for NRT therapy, but may not cover the costs of the group counseling services. Tri-Town Tobacco Treatment Specialists will provide individual and/or group counseling to all program participants no matter what their insurance status. Tobacco Treatment Specialists will travel to health centers; community action agencies, community health centers and other locations throughout the state to conduct outreach; group counseling sessions; informational forums and provide assessments, counseling and FREE Nicotine Replacement Therapy.
